Three Murdered Kids and a Pissed Bird...

Today's headlines are filled with sadness, 'Baby P' and the horrible murder of the two babies in Manchester. What is this world coming to? As i perused the BBC homepage I began to realise that not everything in England is fine and dandy.

Both of these crimes have something in common, injustice. Both cases probably could have been prevented! Both sets of family involved were known by the Children's Services department of their local council. 'Baby P's' family had received more than 60 visits from health and social work professionals whilst the police had visited the home of the two boys just hours before the incident took place.

Just as my faith in the English legal system began to falter I came across an item that showed me that sometimes, amidst all the wrong doing and unfairness, justice can be done.

The story involves a man who took a bird home and got it really drunk.

What is wrong with taking a bird home and getting her pissed? Well.. in this case there is one major problem, the bird was exactly that, a real life chicken.

Gary Maxwell lives in Newcastle, he's 21 years old, and has a history of drug and alcohol abuse. One day he left the homeless hostel were he stayed and stole a chicken from a nearby allotment. He then forced the chicken to drink whiskey and smoke cannabis.

The chicken died. But that is not all. Gary went back to the very same allotment later that day and killed another chicken by repeatedly bashing it's head against the shed. But, going back to my earlier point, Gary did not get away with this crime. Not in the slightest! He was ordered to pay £8 compensation to the owner of the chickens and was given an 18-month community order. I think it's safe to say that justice has been done. Although I do believed that there will be still plenty of pissed, stoned cocks out there.

In other news...

Today, whilst shopping in Leeds with Emma, I witnessed an old woman slip, fall over and bang her head. After helping her get up she seemed okay but it was a deeply disturbing incident. It wasn't funny.

Every end has a beginning...

I've decided to start blogging again.Yes, the likes of Perez Hilton have persuaded me. It's time for me to make a new start. The choice to become a journalist has given me a boost! I feel like my opinion will no longer get lost amongst the million others swirling around the internet like a leaf in the breeze. I will talk as if I'm talking to a friend, a friend who is interested in what I have to say. I won't patronise, yet I will assume you have a basic grasp on things going on in the current world. Don't come here looking for excitement, logic or extremity, it's just my feelings on certain things. My blog will not focus on anything specific; music, film, world news, who knows? That's the whole idea of a blog, I'll just see where my thoughts take me.
